The role:

This role will be working in the Engineering department and the main responsibility is to provide technical guidance and expertise to resolve quality issues and assist the Maintenance Engineering Manager in ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards on the Tredegar site, following company policies to meet business requirements.

The role will also contribute fully to planned preventative maintenance programs by adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and completing necessary documentation, making skilled judgments to maintain the plant at an optimal level. Promptly attend to equipment breakdowns, practicing systematic fault diagnosis and repairs to minimize downtime and product loss. Finally, the role will also have an element of leadership and management Multi-Skilled Engineers in line with company objectives, policies, and the business plan and perform a wide range of mechanical and electrical work as needed to ensure the operational integrity and reliability of plant and equipment associated with pharmaceutical production.​

Main responsibilities:

  • Ensure the Engineering Department provides a world-class fundamental platform for the successful operation of all its business activities.

  • Assist with the management of vendors, routine equipment repair and maintenance for site facilities and utilities.

  • Recommendations are made for unscheduled maintenance where potential problems are recognised.

  • Understand the complex operation of pharmaceutical equipment and provide technical support, advise to all operational departments and clients, i.e. size changes, machine speeds, optimum settings etc.

  • Responsible for the creation, planning and scheduling of maintenance procedures.

  • Accountable for area of operations technical alarms, including outside office hours when appropriate.

  • To ensure that the required standards of cGMP, EHS, data integrity and housekeeping are maintained and improved as required.

  • Ensure that the responsible facilities and equipment are maintained, calibrated, routinely re-qualified in a compliant manner by the application of Planned Preventative Maintenance system.

  • Liaise with onsite departments to arrange for planned preventative maintenance / rectification work required for breakdowns.

  • Liaise with third party contractors in order to arrange for planned preventative maintenance / rectification work required for breakdowns and to then ensure the prompt return of associated reports.

  • Maintain critical spares for use in the planned preventative maintenance / breakdown of key equipment.

  • Without supervision promptly attends machinery breakdowns, practices systematic fault diagnosis and repairs in optimum time, ensuring minimum downtime and product loss.

  • Fully contributes to planned preventative maintenance programs. Adhering to SOP’s and completing necessary documentation.

  • Will assist with registration and installation of new plant / equipment, calculating necessary services, completing documentation, assisting in commissioning and Validation.

  • Assist in coordinating equipment requisitions with internal departments for building services requirements, and carry out equipment and furniture installations.

  • Recommendations are made for unscheduled maintenance where potential problems are recognised.

  • Support and drive cost saving activities within the department.

  • To arrange and maintain working patterns for staff ensuring adequate cover is provided across all shifts to support business needs.

  • To identify self-development needs for future performance.

  • Provide training, support and direction to trainees / apprentices/ operations staff when required ensuring professional standards of workmanship and competence are achieved.

  • Maintaining close co-operation with all other departments to attain continual improvement in performance and standards of quality and reliability.

  • Maintain a degree of flexible working in order to support the business, when required, on weekends or after hours.
