Summary of Objective:

The purpose of this position is for the applicant to be capable of utilizing an engineering skill set to maintain, upgrade and manage the building automation systems (BAS) in PCI. This position will be responsible for daily operation and maintenance of the BAS software, control equipment, data collection devices, data retention and system monitoring. This position will also be responsible for the creation of electrical schematics and controls systems for data collection. There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned. This job is responsible for performing a range of instrumentation and controls equipment maintenance for the HVAC and maintenance systems throughout the facilities, as well as the repair and maintenance of the BAS network. The Facilities Building Automation System (BAS) Engineer is responsible for installing, programming, configuring, testing, calibrating, operating, providing tech support and repair of control systems along with related software, hardware, and equipment. Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. The BAS Engineer must be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly, and should also have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users.

  1. This job is responsible for performing a range of instrumentation and controls equipment maintenance for the HVAC and maintenance systems throughout the facilities, as well as the repair and maintenance of the BAS network.

  2. Procure, build, install and configure necessary BAS hardware to support collection of environmental data for PCI's buildings.

  3. The goal of this role will be to ensure that our BAS infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.

  4. Design, build, maintain and troubleshoot BAS software, equipment and applications.

  5. Configure the BAS for a variety of transmitters, sensors and interfaces specific to data collection.

  6. Install required sensors as necessary to collect environmental data in defined areas.

  7. Responsible for supplying connectivity from PLC's to an OPC servers and virtual LAN connections.

  8. Responsible for supplying electrical schematics and network layouts for all BAS equipment requiring data collection.

  9. Accountable for the set-up and configuration of BAS 10. Ensuring security and efficiency of BAS infrastructure.

  10. Accountable for BAS system performance, troubleshooting and resolution of issues.

  11. Provides expedient and 24 hour technical support for troubleshooting or changes associated with BAS at all Rockford PCI facilities.

  12. Provides education and training for multiple departments within PCI.

  13. Documents all changes and updates within AutoCAD schematics to maintain electrical integrity.

14.Ensuring security and efficiency of BAS infrastructure

  1. This position will require overtime and/or weekend work.

  2. Follows all OSHA, and NFPA 70E codes and regulations.

  3. Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules. Attendance to work is an essential function of this position

  4. Demonstrates technical knowledge of Information Systems networks and infrastructure, PLC programming, HMI programming, OPC software programming, operating systems, and various packaging equipment.

  5. Performs other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or 1-5 years related experience and/or training.

  • College Level Mathematical Skills

  • Advanced Computer Skills: Ability to perform the most complex computer tasks and operate various computer programs.

-Minimum Professional Proficiency: Ability to speak in a way that allows one to participate effectively in various conversations.

-Ability to read various types of standard items addressed to general readers.

  • Very High Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in math or diagram form and deal with several abstract/concrete variables.
