Summary

The Benefits Manager will lead the design, administration and governance of all North America benefit and wellness programs while partnering with vendors and HR leadership to ensure optimal delivery. This position is also responsible for oversight of the administration of leaves of absence and development of wellness initiatives and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the administration of US and Canadian benefit and retirement programs through direct and indirect resources while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Responsible for the compliant administration of group benefit programs ensuring flawless delivery, benefit data integrity, and timely reporting.

  • Manage and oversee the execution of processes related to new hires, life events, retirement, etc. including continuous improvement efforts in these areas.

  • Provide regular feedback to vendors collaborating with them to create, implement, and manage any process improvement initiatives.

  • Act as liaison between the company and benefit providers, including the benefit broker, and serve as the primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.

  • Collaborate with Benefits Team in yearly strategic benefit and wellness planning. Leads and manages the implementation of new benefits and wellness initiatives.

  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge and legal resources to ensure all local, state, and federal regulatory requirements are satisfied.

  • Manages the annual benefits open enrollment, ensuring deadlines are met with testing of the enrollment system, updating plan related documents, and effective communications, ensuring enrollment data are delivered and coordinates the accurate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums, and plan administration.

  • Create and deliver compelling employee communications around benefits and wellness programs to keep employees informed and engaged with company plans and changes.

  • Partner with Finance to analyze expense trends and projections to identify opportunities and recommend improvements with the partnership of the benefits broker.

  • Manage all benefit audits collaborating with Payroll, Finance, and HRIS colleagues to ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements, accurate forecasting of benefit program expenses and accurate payroll deductions.

  • Manage the process of leaves of absence including FMLA and Short-Term Disability to assure each situation is handled according to regulations including internal and/or external counsel as appropriate.

  • Manage and improve the process of restrictions and accommodations ensuring regulations are upheld and including internal and/or external counsel as appropriate.

  • Maintains employee confidence by keeping health, benefit, and payroll information confidential. Respond to inquiries from management and employees regarding policies, procedures and programs.

  • Manage the Tuition Reimbursement Program keep metrics to report on them as requested.

  • Manage all aspects of performance and development of direct reports to encourage professional growth.

  • Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules.

  • Attendance to work is an essential function of this position.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by leader.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Advanced knowledge of employee benefits, wellness, leave of absence and retirement programs, policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Advanced proficiency of Workday HRIS for Benefits and Leaves.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or 1-3 years related experience and/or training.

  • College Level Mathematical Skills

  • Intermediate Computer Skills: Ability to perform more complex computer tasks and has knowledge of various computer programs.

  • Full Professional Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs.

  • High Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where there is only limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions that may be provided in various forms.

  • 5 Years leadership / management experience.

  • 10+ years of benefits related experience with 3 years in an advanced role.

  • This position brings a balance of thought leadership, customer focus, process rigor and analytical skills.

Preferred

  • Ability to follow instructions and respond to management direction.

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
